The COVID-19 virus and pandemic is constantly changing. We are learning new information and new questions are coming to light constantly. Recently, two cats and one dog in the United States have tested positive for COVID-19. All of these animals came into contact with a person who tested positive for COVID-19. These animals showed minimal to no symptoms. According to the CDC, there is no evidence at this time of the COVID-19 virus spreading from a pet to a person.
If you test positive for COVID-19 and you have one or more pets at home, the CDC is recommending that you isolate yourself from your pet if possible. Continue normal hand washing before an after interacting with your pet(s), and follow all other guidelines that you would with human interaction.
